A security issue has been reported in Linux-PAM, which can potentially be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the "pam_xauth" module incorrectly checking the return values of e.g. the "setuid()" and "setgid()" functions when dropping privileges. This can potentially be exploited to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.
The security issue is reported in version 1.1.1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 1.1.2.
