From remote

Impact:

Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data, Exposure of sensitive information

Solution Status:

Partial Fix

CVE Reference(s):

Description

Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Open Classifieds, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting, script insertion, and SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed via the "desc", "price", "title", and "place" parameters to index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

2) Input passed via the "subject" parameter to content/contact.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

3) Input passed via the "title" parameter to content/item-new.php when publishing a new ad is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.

4) Input passed via the "location" parameter to index.php is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

The vulnerabilities #3 and #4 are confirmed in version 1.7.0.3b.

The other vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.7.0.2. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 1.7.1.1, which fixes vulnerability #4. Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
