Multiple weaknesses have been reported in Pidgin, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The weaknesses are caused due to a missing validation of the return value from the "purple_base64_decode()" function in the Yahoo!, MSN, MySpaceIM, and XMPP protocol plugins and the NTLM authentication support. This can be exploited to cause a NULL pointer dereference error and crash the process via specially crafted Base64 encoded messages.
The weaknesses are reported in versions prior to 2.7.4.
Solution: Update to version 2.7.4.
