icetek has discovered some vulnerabilities in XWiki Watch, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and script insertion attacks.
1) Input passed via the "rev" parameter to e.g. xwiki/bin/viewrev/Main/WebHome or xwiki/bin/view/Blog is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Input passed via the "register_first_name" and "register_last_name" parameters to xwiki/bin/register/XWiki/Register is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Filter malicious characters or character sequences via a proxy.
