Peter Wilhelmsen has discovered a vulnerability in Winamp, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the "in_midi.dll" plugin when serialising timestamp values and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via e.g. a specially crafted MIDI file.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.6. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 5.601.
