A vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Windows, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to certain applications loading a BranchCache DLL library in an insecure manner. This can be exploited to load an arbitrary library by tricking a user into e.g. opening .eml and .rss (Windows Live Mail) or .wpost (Microsoft Live Writer) files located on a remote WebDAV or SMB share.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
