A vulnerability has been reported in HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring Software, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error in DoubleTake.exe process and can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted packet sent to e.g. TCP port 6320.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 5.2.2.1771.2.
