A vulnerability has been discovered in MaraDNS, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the "compress_add_dlabel_points()" function in dns/Compress.c, which can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted request.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.4.05. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 1.3.07.11, 1.4.06, or 2.0.02.
