Description


Some vulnerabilities have been reported in IBM Lotus Notes, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) An error within xlssr.dll when parsing a Binary File Format (BIFF) record in an Excel spreadsheet can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow.

2) An integer underflow error within lzhsr.dll when parsing header information in a LZH archive file can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

3) A boundary error within rtfsr.dll when parsing hyperlink information in a Rich Text Format (RTF) document can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

4) A boundary error within mw8sr.dll when parsing hyperlink information in a Microsoft Office Document (DOC) file can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

5) A boundary error within assr.dll when parsing tag information in an Applix Spreadsheet can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

6) An input validation error of a length value in kpprzrdr.dll when processing Freelance documents (PRZ) can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow.

7) An unspecified error within kvarcve.dll when parsing Lotus Notes .zip file format can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions 8.0 and 8.5.
