Description

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in the YAML::LibYAML module for Perl, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise an application using the module.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to format string errors within the "Load()", "load_node()", "load_mapping()", and "load_sequence()" functions (LibYAML/perl_libyaml.c) when parsing a YAML document.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 0.38. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Do not use YAML::LibYAML to parse YAML documents.

Provided and/or discovered by
Dominic Hargreaves in a Debian bug report.
