Parvez Anwar has discovered two vulnerabilities in 3D Life Player, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) A boundary error in the WebPlayer ActiveX control when processing the "SRC" property can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted string assigned to the property.

2) A second boundary error in the WebPlayer ActiveX control when processing the "SRC" property can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long string assigned to the property.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 5.0.0.20. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
