High-Tech Bridge SA has discovered a vulnerability in Serendipity, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks.
Input passed via "url" to comment.php (when "type" is set to "trackback" and "entry_id" is set to a valid value) is not properly sanitised in include/functions_trackbacks.inc.php before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.6.1. Prior versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 1.6.2.
Provided and/or discovered by: High-Tech Bridge SA.
