Description

worstenbrood has discovered a vulnerability in Lockstep Systems Backup for Workgroups, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling login failure and can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted TCP message on port 2125.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 6.0.3. Other versions may also be affected.


Solution
Upgrade to version 7.0.1.
