Description

Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in Symphony CMS, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed to the "email" POST parameter in symphony/login/retrieve-password, "username" POST parameter in symphony/login/, and the "settings[email_sendmail][from_name]" POST parameter to symphony/system/preferences is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

2) Input passed via the URL to symphony/bluePRINTs/pages/edit is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires the "Author" permissions.

The vulnerabilities is confirmed in version 2.3. Other versions may also be affected.
