Secunia Advisory SA51252

Where:

From remote

Impact:

Cross Site Scripting, Spoofing, Manipulation of data, Exposure of sensitive information, DoS, System access, Security Bypass

Solution Status:

Vendor Patch

CVE Reference(s):

Description

A security issue and multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in IBM Tivoli Monitoring, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct spoofing and cross-site scripting attacks, disclose potentially sensitive information, manipulate certain data, bypass certain security restrictions, cause a DoS (Denial of Service), and compromise a user's system.

1) Multiple vulnerabilities are caused due to a bundled vulnerable version of Java.

For more information:
SA50949
SA51244

2) A security issue and two vulnerabilities are caused due to a bundled vulnerable version of the IBM Global Security Toolkit (GSKit).

For more information:
SA50069
SA50240

3) Certain input passed via UTF-8 character sequences within a port 1920 or 3661 URL is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

4) An error when handling a leading null character ("%00") within a port 1920 or 3661 URL can be exploited to cause an AbEnd (Abnormal End) in an IBM Tivoli Monitoring process.

Please see the vendor's advisory for affected versions.

Solution:
Update to version 6.2.3 Fix Pack 3 (6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0003) or apply APARs (please see the vendor's advisory for details).
