A weakness has been reported in Puppet Enterprise, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.
The weakness is caused due to a missing randomized secret in CAS client config file when upgrading the application from certain versions, which may lead to console authentication being bypassed via a specially crafted cookie.
Successful exploitation requires application to be upgraded from version 1.2.x or 2.0.x to version 2.5.0 through 2.7.2.
The weakness is reported in versions 2.5.0 through 2.7.2.
Solution: Apply fix or update to version 2.8.0.
