Felix Groebert has reported two vulnerabilities in ClamAV, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

1) Some errors exist within multiple functions (libclamav/pdf.c) when processing encrypted PDF files, which can be exploited to trigger an out-of-bounds access and cause a crash via a specially crafted PDF file.

2) An error exists within the "cli_scanpe()" function (libclamav/pe.c) when processing UPX packed files, which can be exploited to cause a crash via a specially crafted UPX file.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 0.97.7. Prior versions may also be affected.


Solution:
Update to version 0.97.8.
