CVE Reference(s):

Description

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in XnView, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) An integer overflow error in the Xfpx.dll module when processing FPX images can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted file.

2) An error when processing PSP files can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted file.

3) An error when processing PCT files can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow.

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow execution of arbitrary code, but requires tricking a user into opening a malicious file.

Vulnerabilities #1 and #2 are confirmed in version 2.03 and vulnerability #3 is reported in version 2.03. Prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 2.04.

Provided and/or discovered by:
1, 2) Krystian Kloskowski (h07) via Secunia.
3) Ricardo Narvaja, Core Security.
