A vulnerability has been reported in the Simplenews module for Drupal, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks.
Input passed via the "mail" parameter when subscribing to a newsletter through the API is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site if malicious data is viewed.
The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 6.x-1.5 and prior to 7.x-1.1.
Solution: Update to version 6.x-1.5 or 7.x-1.1.
