A vulnerability has been reported in Xen, which can be exploited by malicious, local users in a guest virtual machine to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error related to an AMD CPU when handling instructions and can be exploited to cause a CPU core hang via specific combination of writes to write combined memory types and locked instructions.
Successful exploitation requires the host using family 16h model 00h-0fh AMD CPUs and either a HVM guest or a PV guest with access to a physical device.
The vulnerability is reported in versions 4.1.x, 4.2.x, and 4.3.x.
