Description


SySS GmbH has reported two security issues in NETGEAR D6300B, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions and compromise a vulnerable system.

1) The device allows access to a certain undocumented Telnet service listening on TCP port 23 and can be exploited to e.g. execute arbitrary commands with root privileges.

2) The device allows access to certain UPnP services and can be exploited to gain access to certain, otherwise restricted functionality.

The security issues are reported in firmware versions 1.0.0.06 and 1.0.0.14. Other versions may also be affected.
