Solution: Upgrade to version 1.9.1:
http://www.snort.org/dl/snort-1.9.1.tar.gz
As a temporary workaround disable the RPC preprocessor by commenting out the following line in "snort.conf":
preprocessor rpc_decode
Furthermore, Snort should be configured to run as a low privileged user in a chrooted environment. This reduces the impact of a successfully exploited vulnerability giving system administrators more time to react if a system is compromised.
