Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in Samba, which can be exploited by a malicious person to compromise a vulnerable server.

The vulnerability is caused by a boundary error in "smbd" in the code handling re-assembly of fragmented packets. A malicious person can exploit the vulnerability by sending special constructed packets to a Samba server to port 139/tcp or 445/tcp, which can result in execution of arbitrary code on the system with "root" privileges.
