Description: A vulnerablity has been identified in Interbase, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges.
The vulnerability is caused by a boundary error in the handling of the "ISC_LOCK_ENV" variable. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow, which potentially allows execution of arbitrary code with root privileges, by inserting a specially crafted value longer than 1024 bytes.
Solution: Reportedly, the vendor has been contacted but didn't reply.
Allow only trusted users access to systems and monitor their actions.
