Solution:
Snort version 2.0 is not vulnerable.
http://www.snort.org/dl/

Furthermore, Snort should be configured to run as a low privileged user in a chrooted environment. This reduces the impact of a successfully exploited vulnerability giving system administrators more time to react if a system is compromised.

The affected vendors have not issued updates.

Other software may be affected as well.

Provided and/or discovered by:
Bruce Leidl, Juan Pablo Martinez Kuhn and Alejandro David Weil from Core Security Technologies.

Changelog:
2003-04-22: Added CVE reference.
