Description

SGI has reported a vulnerability in the IRIX nsd (name service daemon), which can be exploited by malicious people to circumvent LDAP user authentication.

The problem is that IRIX's LDAP name service doesn't detect whether a LDAP server provides the "USERPASSWORD" attribute for each entry in the password database. This can be exploited by malicious people to log in without being authenticated.


Solution
Update to version 6.5.20 or apply patch #5063 (for version 6.5.15 - 6.5.19).
