Description: Debian has issued updated packages for libgtop. These fix a vulnerability, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the gtop daemon. A malicious person can exploit this by supplying a specially crafted, long authentication string. This will cause a buffer overflow, which potentially allows execution of arbitrary code on the vulnerable system with the privileges of the daemon.
NOTE: The vulnerability has previously been fixed but was reintroduced in later versions.
