A vulnerability has been identified in Netbus allowing a malicious user to bypass the authentication mechanism.

By establishing one connection and then making another connection to the server when receiving the password prompt, the second connection will be established without further prompts. This happens because the server believes that the first connection is valid.

This has only been proven for 1.x versions.

Solution
We recommend that you do not use the early versions of Netbus for remote administration. Many other remote administration tools are available, which have been written with security in mind.
