Solution:
Reportedly, it was not possible to get in contact with the vendor.

Use another product. However, if this is not possible then disallow numerous connections from the same IP, which will make exploitation harder.

NOTE: The system will still have to be restarted sometimes since legitimate traffic will cause a slow consumption as well.
