Description: Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Phorum, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct Cross Site Scripting attacks, execute some code and disclose file paths.
Some of the vulnerabilities are caused due to missing validation of user input supplied to the "subject", "author's name", and "author's e-mail" fields of a message in Phorum. A malicious user can supply malicious script code in these fields, which results in the code being executed in a user's browser session, when the message is viewed.
Successful exploitation can result in disclosure of various information (eg. cookie-based authentication information) associated with the site running Phorum or inclusion of malicious content, which the user thinks is part of the real website.
A vulnerability also exists in one of the admin scripts, which reportedly can be exploited to execute some code. A malicious person can also exploit an unspecified vulnerability to disclose file paths. However, these two vulnerabilities are not exploitable if the installation instructions have been followed.
