Description

A vulnerability has been identified in Happymall, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive information and conduct cross site scripting attacks against users.

The vulnerability is caused due to a lack of input validation in "normal_html.cgi". This can be exploited to traverse directories by inserting "../" and appending "%00" at the end of an URL.

The vulnerability can also be exploited to conduct cross site scripting attacks by inserting script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session if a user is tricked into clicking a malicious link or visit a malicious website. Successful exploitation can result in disclosure of various information (eg. cookie-based authentication information) associated with the site running Happymall or inclusion of malicious content, which the user thinks is part of the real website.

This vulnerability has been reported to affect version 4.3 and 4.4 (including the patched version).

Solution
