Description: A vulnerability has been discovered in Poster version.two, which allows malicious users to become administrators.
The problem is that the database uses "|" as a delimiter. However, the "|" character is not filtered or escaped from the email address, which allows malicious users to inject arbitrary fields to the database.
Example:
Normal database:
James|password|email@somedomain|admin|
Jack|password|email@somedomain|normal|
If "Jack" changes his email address to "email@somedomain|admin" the contents of the database would be:
James|password|email@somedomain|admin|
Jack|password|email@somedomain|admin|normal|
"Jack" is now an "admin" user, who can delete and alter messages.
