Description

A vulnerability has been identified in the Cisco VPN Client, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges on a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to insecure ACLs on the file "vpnclient.ini". The VPN client can be configured to start prior to logon and execute a third party program with SYSTEM privileges. This can be exploited by a malicious user by specifying an arbitrary program in "vpnclient.ini", which will execute it with escalated privileges.

Solution
Modify the ACLs on the file "vpnclient.ini" by removing normal users' write permissions.
