Description: A vulnerability has been discovered in Newsscript, which allows malicious members to become administrators.
The problem is that the database uses "<~>" as a delimiter. However, the "<~>" character sequence is not filtered nor escaped from input in "write.php" when "edit profile" is used. This allows malicious members to inject arbitrary fields in the database including the attribute setting privileges.
If a user changes his name to:
Peter<~>2
The database contents will then show:
admin<~>admin<~>admin@admin<~>Adminius Administratus<~>2
peter<~>test<~>test@nodomain<~>Peter<~>2<~>1
Now "Peter" has become an administrator.
