Description

A vulnerability has been identified in some versions of Microsoft Windows, which can be exploited by a malicious person to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in Windows Media Services. The problem is that the ISAPI extension "nsiislog.dll" doesn't process incoming requests correctly. This can be exploited by sending a specially crafted request to the server, which will cause IIS to stop responding or execute arbitrary code with the privileges of IIS.

NOTE: Windows Media Services is not installed on Windows 2000 by default. Furthermore, it is not included in Windows NT 4.0 by default but must be downloaded.
