Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Xmame, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
1) A boundary error exists in the handling of the "lang" command line option. This allows malicious users to cause a buffer overflow and allows arbitrary code execution.
2) Some boundary errors exist in xmame.x11 when handling the "lang", "ctrlr", "pb", and "rec" command line options. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow and allows arbitrary code execution.
Successful exploitation requires that the affected binary is suid "root" or suid "games". It has been reported that some Linux distributions install the affected binary as suid "root"
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 0.102 and prior.
