Description

Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Speak Freely allowing malicious people to gain access to the system running Speak Freely.

A buffer overflow has been identified in the handling of UDP packets with the "faceRequest" bit set.

A buffer overflow has been identified in the handling of VAT protocol packets. If the user name is longer than 256 characters it will overflow the buffer.

A buffer overflow has been identified in the decompression of audio packets.

The buffer overflows could possibly be exploited to gain system access.

A race condition exists when using PGP allowing malicious local users to overwrite arbitrary files which the user running Speak Freely got access to. The problem occurs because Speak Freely uses "/tmp" in an insecure manner with predictable filenames.

Speak Freely can be used to relay UDP packets due a function allowing packets to be echoed back to the sender. As UDP can easily be spoofed this could be used to send traffic to third parties.

Solution
All vulnerabilities but the UDP relaying has been fixed in version 7.6
