Description:
Red Hat has reported a vulnerability in ypserv, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) on a vulnerable NIS server.

The problem is that it is possible to make the service stop responding to requests by connecting to it using a malicious client, which ignores the server's response.

According to the Red Hat advisory, the vulnerability affects ypserv prior to version 2.7. However, the official site indicates that the vulnerability affects versions prior to 2.8.
