Description

Red Hat has issued an update for XFree86, which fixes various security issues.

Insecure permissions on "/dev/dri" has been fixed.

The "LD_PRELOAD" environment variable privilege escalation vulnerability has been fixed (it is referenced with CAN/CVE number, but has not been described by Red Hat. This only affects 7.3 and 8.0).

A vulnerability allowing users to read and write arbitrary shared memory has been fixed.

A vulnerability allowing malicious people to connect the to the X server if "authComplain" is false and the xdm auth directory doesn't exist has been fixed (this only affects 7.1, 7.2 and Enterprise Linux 2.1).

Escape sequences in Xterm could be used to manipulate the user. For more information see:
