A flaw has been identified in Symantec Norton AntiVirus 7.6 Corporate Edition running on Windows XP, which allows malicious users to load malware.

The problem is that Symantec NAV 7.6 CE running on XP fails to detect malware on floppy disks. This allows malicious users to execute malware, which otherwise would have been detected.

This has been reported to affect version 7.61 build 45.

Solution
Do not rely on Symantec NAV to protect against malware from floppy disks. If you consider this a threat, use a different AntiVirus program or disable the floppy drive.
