Description: Conectiva has issued updated packages for ucd-snmp. These fix an old vulnerability, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the snmpnetstat tool when requesting a list of interfaces. This can be exploited to cause a heap overflow and may allow execution of arbitrary code on the user's system if a malicious SNMP service returns a specially crafted response.
Successful exploitation requires that a user requests a list of interfaces from a malicious SNMP service.
