Description: A vulnerability has been reported in IBM U2 UniVerse, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges on a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the "uvrestore" utility when handling command line options. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and may potentially allow execution of arbitrary code with "root" privileges. However, this has not been proven.
It has furthermore been reported that the "uvsetacc" utility exhibits strange behaviour when setting permissions on device files.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 10.0.0.9 and prior.
