Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Lotus Sametime, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive information.

The vulnerabilities are all related to errors in the implemented encryption, which is based on a symmetric RC2 40-bit algorithm.

1) The secret key used for encryption/decryption is shared between the systems by including it directly in the login packets. This makes it trivial for people, who are able to sniff the network traffic, to decrypt the information and gain knowledge of user's passwords and other sensitive communication.

2) The 10 character long RC2 passwords are generated using only the ASCII representations for the decimal numbers 0-9. This reduces the number of combinations tremendously from 256^10 to 10^10.

3) The first 6 bytes of the encrypted password field never change. This makes it easier to decrypt a user's password via a known-plaintext attack.

According to the original advisory, the vulnerabilities are present in versions 1.5 and 3.0.
