Description: A vulnerability has been identified in WideChapter, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling URLs. This can be exploited to cause a stack based buffer overflow overwriting the return address by tricking a user into viewing a malicious HTML document, which tries to open an overly long, specially crafted URL (517 characters or more).
Example:
<script>window.open("http://AAA...[x517]...AAA"</script>
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 3.0.0.0 and prior versions are reportedly also affected.
