Description

A vulnerability has been identified in Sun Java, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a Denial of Service.

The problem is that JAXP can't handle XML documents with deeply nested entity definitions. This can be exploited to consume 100% CPU resources by users with access to Java based applications which accepts and parses XML documents.

An example document has been provided in the original advisory.

All versions prior to 1.4.2_01 are vulnerable.
