Description:
Two vulnerabilities have been reported in XShisen, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges on a vulnerable system.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors when handling the "XSHISENLIB" environment variable and user input supplied to the "-KCONV" command line parameter.
This can be exploited to cause buffer overflows by supplying more than 100 bytes of data, which may allow execution of arbitrary code with escalated privileges on systems, where the game has been installed sgid "games".
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.51. However, other versions may also be affected.
