Description: A vulnerability has been reported in slocate, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to escalate their privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when searching a database. This can be exploited by searching a user supplied specially crafted database.
Successful exploitation grants group "slocate" privileges on systems where slocate has been installed sgid "slocate". This group has privileges to read the content of slocate databases.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.6. However, other versions may also be affected.
