@taffy ,

This is already posted in the "Program" forum , it is not a comment under a specific SA but under the "Vulnerability Report" concerning the software in the Advisories Section .

For the moment replying here seems to be allowed as it is already in the "program" forum by default ; still a grey area .

Secunia do not announce news of vulnerabilities in the "vunerabilities" sub-forum ; it is either triggered by a post in the comments section under an SA or a poster selects the sub-forum .

The announcement is normally just the SA ; Secunia very seldom comment .

Take care

Anthony

@harpreet.brar ,

Perhaps if you create your own thread in the "Program" sub-forum as @taffy suggested , would save any confusion ; Then it your thread under your control and not Secunia's .

Take care

Anthony

EDIT x 2 : does this link help :-

ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/java/README.htm

or this ;-

sorry Anthony but I disagree. I'm pretty sure that this thread was in Vulnerabilities when I replied - it was that that drew my attention to it in the main menu.

(1) In the 'bad old days', it was not unusual for a new member (such as harpreet) to post a comment on an announcement by Secunia in the Vulnerabilities "sub-forum" ( a horrible word, imho).
Then, other members trying to help would respond, only to find that they had been given "negative relevant scores" (by Secunia officials, we believe).

In recent months, that situation has eased, as you say.

(2) But this post may not have been in 'Programs' by default, as you also say.

In recent months, I have posted a response as per my initial post here and have later found that Secunia has moved the thread from Vulnerabilities to Programs, or another section. The poster has then posted a new thread in another section, as I suggested, so that we ended up with two live threads in the same section. In those case, I asked Secunia Support to lock the initial thread, which they did.

(3) The wording of my initial post here is actually yours, Anthony.

(4) By trying to help someone in a way that you too agree with, either two people have scored me -1 or an experienced member has scored me -2. Hardly an incentive to help?

At the end of the day, it's not the scores that matter - it's whether someone with a problem has been helped.

Finally, and on a lighter note - harpreet: if this was in Programs to start with, not Vulnerabilities, I apologise for my Specsavers moment. (That's a UK joke, based on a national opticians' series of amusing TV adverts- see http://www.visit4info.com/advert/Specsavers-Sheep-...).

I hope that Anthony's soluution works for you! ;o)

@taffy ,

I do not agree ; you are incorrect .

1)Rather than argue (this is not the place) , I assure you this thread in this "sub-forum" was correctly placed here by default ; I suggest you reread this , if you do not understand ;-

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/434...

2)Posters who opened direct into the "wrong" sub-forum when they create are the ones who get moved .

3)I don't know where you found my words , but if you wish to quote them please do so correctly .

4) I very , very seldom vote (up to 5) and do not intend to do so on this thread .

Anthony

Hi Anthony - I hadn't meant to imply that it was you who scored the -2. I know from your previous comments that you rarely score. I was just making the point, as I have done before, about being zapped.

Thank you for reminding me about TiMow's "Angels" thread - happy memories. Some tough talking but still happy memories.

I copied your words just to be on the safe side. I'm sure this thread was in the Vulnerabilities forum, that I picked that up from the main menu of threads. And I can honestly say that I've posted my 'standard' reply before only later to find that the thread has been moved out of Vulnerabilities.

If I'm wrong about this post of harpreet's, I'll plead Specsavers or blame Mogs. The main thing is that, hopefully, you will have answered his/her problem.

Regards.

David
