Hi terragasta;

The article you have posted to is about this extension for Firefox. http://secunia.com/advisories/product/26585 If your computer does not have Firefox, you may disregard.

in my system this dll is named as "plugin for netscape navigator"
why secunia told about firefox?
i have not firefox installed...this is that i find curious...

The PSI may detect as Firefox because the code-base
is a Gecko layout engine. Netscape developers contributed
to the birth of Mozilla (think Firefox, Thunderbird, & more).
Even AOL, which now owns Netscape, suggests to
download & use another browser because all support
of Netscape has ended--even though it's still presented
for download. The enclosed link may shed some light.

http://browser.netscape.com/history

Hope this helps.

Regards, wr

Bonsoir @terragasta ;

You are correct to say that your plug-in is for Netscape Navigator :-

http://www.processlist.com/info/npoff12.html

it is also runs in Firefox :-

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=...

Today it is usually known as an NPAPI plug-in to differentiate it from an ActiveX plug-in as used by IE :-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NPAPI

It is a long technical history , but NPAPI works in Netscape , Firefox and other similar browsers which are not based on ActiveX .

Which Browser(s) are you using ?? Is the plug-in up to date and working correctly in your browser ??

Perhaps Secunia support or someone more technically competent than I can say if the specific reference to Firefox is correct or if the "title" should be changed .

Anthony

EDIT : post crossed with that of wr , info seems similar :))

Hi,

Your observation is correct - The extension runs in more than Firefox, and that makes it an NPAPI plugin.

Therefore, I've updated the product name to "Microsoft Office 2003 11.x (NPAPI Plugin)". Try running a full rescan.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you scan again, the proper version should also be renamed this time.
