At the RSA Conference 2012, Information Security Media Group spoke to key information security thought-leaders in the public and private sectors on the topics that matter most (security, privacy, compliance, technology, etc.)
Tom Field, Editorial Director of ISMG interviewed Secunia’s CSO Thomas Kristensen about patch management; a topic that generally doesn’t get the attention that it deserves.
Kristensen discusses the barriers affecting general adoption of timely patching, such as education, information, and the availability of patching tools that make life easier. Also discussed is how Secunia is going to “rock the boat” by doing what the software industry has failed to do for years – getting all users’ software up-to-date so that they can stay secure online.
Users just want convenience; to be able to turn on their PCs, do their work, and not worry about updates. This is why Secunia is taking patching for all users to the next level; raising the bar with new functionalities (currently being tested with the new Secunia Personal Software Inspector 3.0 Beta) that eliminate the hassle normally associated with software updates.
